Last 24 hours saw a range of conditions, from clean to down right blown out, and bright sun to foreboding darkness. The shot above is the brief interlude where Dan and Andy sneaked out to score literally a few waves. I like this photo, because it was the one exception to what looked like a fairly poor session. After I shot this, we went up to the corner and the wind seemed to back off long enough to deliver some perfect overhead sets. Definitely an improvement from my session moments earlier in the wind blown slop, and my walk of shame past the life guard hut.

Unstoppable

Wind just won't back down until it breaks each and everyone of us. The forecast looks savage for the next few days and and it was nice to have some company (on the beach) today. Dan was cranking the loops and the sideshore Southerly looked fairly uninviting with walls of whitewater chasing down the others. Will do my best to keep the updates coming.

So the wind continues...

I continually like to check out what my old friends have been up to on Vancouver Island - so I check Bigwavedave.ca pretty frequently to see all the shots in and around British Columbia. Occasionally I like to post up some shots of our conditions and show that England isn't just about rain, bad teeth and no wilderness, as our North American cousins like to stereotype. The most consistent question that comes back; is how do we actually manage to sail in these onshore/cross on big day ? How do we get out etc, and I think this shot demonstrates perfectly. You grit you teeth, you power up and you jump your way out of trouble, all the way to the outside. Dan scores some North North West action on a cold and bright Sunday.

The fear

The spot was working again tonight and I ventured out for the first time; poorly rigged, tired from my earlier sail and my first beer of the night already inside me. None of the things you might expect when needing to be on form, however all very handy excuses. Dan, Jem, Mark and Colin all seemed practically at home and it was a pleasure to watch. Lots and lots of photos to sift through, and will try and post some up a little later.

Five Six from the West

Wind just doesn't seem to be backing off, and scored another solid day of windsurfing. Dan pushing a shove-it or perhaps just going for a goiter (many thanks Carl L for photo duty). What a great day; blue skies, solid Five/Six and some full-on onshore riding. Perhaps return for evening session at the mouth. Excellent forecast for tomorrow.
Picture below is yours truly - trying out my new 30inch lines and lovely boom. Ohh the joy. Aeron make lovely booms !
