Days like today, make everything seem perfect in the world. A truly great session with a lot of big smiles going round.

Its been a great couple of days, with cross shore and good size swell yesterday. Today was also super fun, playing in chunky onshore, and enjoying some space between the sets. The Wave Cult single fin is still very throw around, and despite reading all the press on multi fins, I am so dialled on this little board right now. Blue skies and a little cooler today, but only lasted an hour as work commitments called. Forecast is set to continue till Monday, and the house is taking a pounding from the weather, still with no roof. The sound from the tarps flapping in the wind is horrendous.

Couldn't really sleep through the night as the wind chimes were on overtime, and the rain was seemingly unstoppable. So I started the day at 4am, and by 8, I felt really tired at the thought of sailing in the storm. After dropping the kids off for school, I met with a smaller than normal crew, and we headed off the front. Wind seemingly had calmed down from the 61mph gust recorded at Chivenor, but still solid enough to score a good session, and some painful back loop attempts. Most impressive of all though, had to be Luke, with his large frontside airs surfing in almost blown out conditions. Amazing !

Four seasons in one day, but mainly autumn with a solid Force 5. Sailed 5.0 and at best I can only describe as 'pleasant onshore'. Apologies to Team Xcel who I forgot to call (amongst others), as I didn't really think it was worth crowing about. I guess windy and a little blue sky isn't so bad after all, and with hindsight from the GoPro it looked alright.

The 4.0

Ridiculously windy and no let up from the last 24hours. Feeling so tired from a full on session, and now totally disorientated from looking at all the GoPro footage from the top of the mast. Its far too tedious to post an edited video, so just pulled out some stills from todays action. Forecast is for more wind tomorrow - can't wait, although my body is sending me a different message.

Friends with Housings

are the best sorts of friends to have. So big thanks to the one that must remain nameless, you helped me shake off my lethargy and made me realise a little shoulder pain is easily forgotten when someone has a camera :)

More

Luke kinldy scored some shots for me, whilst I enjoyed a lengthy session. Was planning on going out again in a little bit, as the wind just doesn't seem to want to back down. Water is so nice and warm, and the wind is just howling.

Late Arrival

After 15 hours of driving over the weekend to see my sister and her family in Brighton, returning back to North Devon to wind and sun was a real salve. I think I'd almost forgotten that I still love the wind, and on the final hundred or so miles, I really started to get a pangs for the coast. Finally reaching the beach at 5pm, everyone was packing up and I got the usual comments of 'you should have been here earlier'. But not so ! Just by chance, I got the tip off about a favourite wave spot, showing a little promise, and by the time I had rigged it was looking perfect. Colin kindly carried over the new RRD 75 Wave Cult, which was an absolute cracker of a board. Very quick and sat really nice in the water, I can see why it won all the tests. We scored a quick hour, and by the time I was packing up, the others were arriving to score some of there own down the line fun.
